I tested Lightroom 5.0 in the Developer Beta, Release Candidate and the final versions in June. I was expecting more from Lightroom 8, as the transition to Creative Cloud has made it painful. I definitely felt less agitated and had less distractions while comparing Lightroom 4.2 and Lightroom 5.0 directly. It’s as if I am using a better piece of software now. If you look at Lightroom 4.2 and Lightroom 5, they look virtually alike in terms of the changes and updates. That’s not always the case with major product upgrades, because they are released as final versions. If you opt for legacy (Lightroom 4 users) you will be able to keep the same set of roots and only have to make minor, non-significant changes to the user interface and featureset to accommodate the new tools and workflow in Lightroom 5. If you opt for a new user (Lightroom 5 users), all of the actions on your list will be followed. What are the major differences you ask? Let me tell you.
