I’ve had a pretty darn good run with the software. Here’s a few words on the changes for Photoshop 5, which until today had only been available for the Mac. I will be one of many artists who work more on the Mac than on Windows. (More on this later.)

I’m not shy about the fact that I’m a longstanding Windows user—I have bought and even installed every compiler, operating system, and program out there on the venerable Windows platform. As a writer, I wouldn’t want any differences in the platforms, but it’s clear that for most everyday users the world is moving in the direction of a Mac. It’s probably easier and more comfortable to operate the Mac. Lightroom for Windows probably won’t be sold much, if at all, for instance. Mac users tend to migrate to the Mac, and that’s certainly true even when they originally got their Mac from a PC vendor. That said, it was great having Lightroom’s full program functionality on Windows, particularly for people like me who use Windows and Mac side-by-side. If you are a Windows user, why not give Lightroom a try? It’s one of the best total feature solutions out there.
