To assist with the transition, Photoshop versions prior to CS2 and Creative Cloud versions have been able to use the Legacy 3D APIs, but of course are not supported any longer. Subsequent versions of Photoshop were able to run both Native and Legacy 3D effectively, and we will continue to support this up to the next supported version.
