The present invention relates to a fuel injection method for a diesel engine, more particularly, to a fuel injection method, in which a diesel engine, of which a mixture ratio of air and fuel in the engine is changed in conformity with a desired engine load, can be burned effectively and smoothly even in a low engine load operation.
2. Description of the Prior Art
In an ordinary diesel engine, a fuel injection nozzle injects fuel into a combustion chamber at a predetermined fuel injection timing. According to the fuel injection timing, a mixture ratio of air and fuel, which is obtained in the combustion chamber, is substantially the same as that when a constant combustion air-fuel ratio is obtained.
Therefore, when a load on the diesel engine is small, the fuel injection is decreased, and when the load on the diesel engine is large, the fuel injection is increased. In this case, a sufficient combustion air-fuel ratio cannot be obtained in a lean-burn region, and fuel cannot be burned sufficiently.
Therefore, the fuel injection is stopped in a lean-burn region, so as to obtain a combustion air-fuel ratio in the lean-burn region as that in an ordinary diesel engine. Thus, it is difficult to obtain a good combustion state and generate a good-quality exhaust gas.
To solve the above problems, a demand for controlling an air-fuel ratio distribution in a combustion chamber is increasing, and a technology for the air-fuel ratio control of the diesel engine is being developed.
In addition, there is conventionally known an air-fuel ratio control technology, in which an intake air flow rate is detected by a temperature sensor mounted in an intake pipe, an inlet air-fuel ratio is determined based on the intake air flow rate, and the actual air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture is controlled, based on the inlet air-fuel ratio.
For example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 61-13201 discloses an engine control system, in which a pressure in the intake pipe is detected by a pressure sensor and a fresh air flow rate is determined from the detection signal thereof, and then an open-loop control is performed for the fuel injection by using an inlet air-fuel ratio feedback correction coefficient, based on the fresh air flow rate.
This engine control system, however, has a problem in that the exhaust gas property is lowered.
